Factory site’s future features in Local Plan

The future of the former bottling factory site is still unclear as it remains empty following its closure at the end of last year.

The site in Station Road has been shrouded in controversy since Tesco submitted a planning application to for a 40,000 sq ft store there in September 2011, which was later withdrawn.

The factory was closed for good in November last year.

Matt Beddoe, spokesman for Nestle Waters , commented: “We still own the site. It’s part of High Peak Borough Council’s Local Plan at the moment, in which it’s earmarked for potential retail or leisure use.

“Whoever buys the site would have to go for planning permission.”
