Duke of Devonshire shows support for health trust

The Duke of Devonshire has signed up as a member of Derbyshire Community Health Services’ newly emerging Foundation Trust.

The Duke has also spoken publicly about his respect for the care received by patients looked after by Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS), including at Buxton’s Cavendish Hospital where he opened the new roof garden last year.

A recording of the Duke’s message is on the trust’s website, to coincide with elections which will see a new Council of Governors appointed in the countdown to the trust becoming a fully-fledged Foundation Trust in the spring.

Trust Chair Andrew Fry said: “We were thrilled when the Duke agreed to become a member of our trust.

“He has shown wonderful support for the care provided by our teams and spent a long time talking to staff, patients and relatives during the official opening of the roof garden for dementia patients last summer.

“Since we started inviting people to become members of our trust we have had a fantastic response from a wide cross-section of people living in Derbyshire and beyond.

“The next step now is to appoint a Council of Governors who will work with us as we head towards becoming a Foundation Trust.”
