Snow has fallen across many parts of Derbyshire overnight – with forecasters warning of more to come.

The Met Office has issued an amber ‘be prepared’ alert amid warnings of up to 40cm of snow in places.

A Met Office spokesman said: “The public should be aware of the potential for severe disruption, particularly to transport and to power supplies during Friday morning.

“Futher snow is expected later on Friday.

“The public is advised to take extra care.”

The wintry weather is causing travel disruption across the county and leading to a number of school closures.
