DERBYSHIRE: Cops say Facebook dog thief message is a hoax

editorial image

Derbyshire police are advising pet owners that a Facebook message about a gang of dog thieves is a hoax.

Concerned residents have been calling the force about a post that has been circulating on Facebook, claiming thieves are putting stickers on homes where dogs live before coming back later to steal the animals.

Police have confirmed the claims are not true and no crimes of this nature have been reported in Derbyshire. Facebook users are asked not to share the message to avoid raising unnecessary fear and alarm.
