A former Buxton couple celebrated their golden wedding at the weekend.
The Reverend Martin and Pam Hulbert met at St Anne’s Church and were married at St John’s Church, Buxton, on December 28, 1963.
At the time, Martin was curate of Buxton and Pam had been a teacher at Silverlands School.
Martin has since been Rector or Vicar of several churches in Derbyshire, and Pamela has taught in many schools in Derbyshire and Sheffield.
The couple had returned to Buxton in retirement, but moved two years ago with family to Wirksworth.
They have two sons and four grandchildren and enjoy exploring the south Derbyshire countryside, keeping in touch with family and friends, walking their dog, classical music, ballet and film.
They are also members of a book club with friends from Tideswell, and have both written their memoirs for family and friends. They celebrated their anniversary with a family meal.
Describing the key to their long and happy marriage, Martin, 77, said: “We like the same sort of music, we like the same sort of books, we like the same sort of television programmes so we have a lot in common.”
And Pam, 75, added: “We just keep getting on with another day.”
