Charities cash in on Peak hike
CHEQUES worth over £2,000 have been presented to three local charities by High Peak Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Andrew Bingham.
The money was raised during his recent High Peak Hike, when he and Conservative colleague Emma McClarkin walked the new parliamentary boundary of the High Peak.
Andrew's hike took place over four days, during which he covered a distance of approximately 65 miles and raised 2,692.
The charities to benefit are Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxton For Youth and Glossop Mountain Rescue. Emma walked for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Andrew said: "It took a while to get all the sponsor money in, but I was delighted with the final tally.
"When I decided to do the walk, I wanted local charities to get some real benefit, and when you look at the amounts, I am sure that they will."
The constituency boundary at the next General Election will be different from previous years as villages such as Hathersage, Tideswell, Bradwell and Grindleford have been transferred into Derbyshire Dales.
