Police have released CCTV images of two women they want to speak to in connection with the theft of a large quantity of cash from a Buxton pensioner.

The theft happened last Monday, April 7 after the 70-year-old victim withdrew the cash from the bank.

At about 1pm, two women entered the Lomas Foods store on Spring Gardens and stole an envelope containing the cash from the victim’s jacket pocket.

The two women pictured in the CCTV images were seen in the shop at the time of the theft and officers are keen to speak to them.

The first woman is described as being of slim build, and was wearing a black leather jacket and a printed scarf.

She was olive skinned with black shoulder-length hair.

The second woman is described as olive skinned, of slim build and wore dark clothing with her hair tied up in a bun.

Buxton police inspector Martin Coey issued this warning: “If you are withdrawing large sums of money from the bank, go with someone else and be aware because people might be watching.”

Anyone who recognises the women, or has any information on the theft, should contact Local Intelligence Officer Claire Gyte on the non-emergency number 101.
