Carnival WILL go ahead
BUXTON'S carnival will take place tomorrow (Saturday) after a successful appeal for marshalls.
The Wells Dressing Festival Committee discovered on Friday morning that a number of promised marshalls were not available leaving them with a race against time to find replacements.
But an appeal on the Buxton Advertiser website and on High Peak Radio led to new volunteers coming forward.
Wells Dressing Festival Secretary Chris Simpson said: "I am amazed the appeal worked so quickly and so well."
Among those who were able to provide much needed help were the University fo Derby who have provided five marshalls.
The Committee would like to thank them and the wider community for their support.
The Carnival can now go ahead as planned with the procession set to be one of the best yet.
