Buxton put on a show for the visiting East Midlands in Bloom judges on Tuesday.

Diane Moore and Ian Cooke were taken on a tour of the town as judging for this year’s contest began in earnest.

Cote Heath Allotments, Sparrow Park, Spring Gardens, St John’s Church, Poole’s Cavern and the Pavilion Gardens were among the locations visited, while the judges were also introduced to ongoing community projects such as the bid to return the Serpentine Nursery back into community use.

“In general, they were very impressed with the level of community involvement,” commented Roddie MacLean, Director of Buxton Town Team. “They seemed inspired by the sheer range of things we showed them. I think overall they went away very happy.”
