Bamford water pipes set for an overhaul

Residents in Bamford are set to benefit from brand new water pipes.

Water company Severn Trent is investing in more than two kilometres of brand new water pipes to make sure its customers’ taps and toilets keep working.

Sarah-Jayne O’Kane, from Severn Trent, said: “As water pipes get old, they can become weaker and crack, and that makes them prone to leaks and bursts.

“We want to make sure our customers’ water supply in the area is always there when they need it and that is why we’re laying these brand new water pipes.

“This work is really important to make sure that water supplies for our customers are reliable going forward.

The work, which will be carried out by Severn Trent’s contract partner, Laing O’Rourke, is well underway and is scheduled to be completed by the autumn.
