Art to take your breath away

NEW MILLS photographer Tim Hensel has won an international public art competition to have his image, "Suck" displayed on the wall of the Urbis building in Manchester.

Tim, 31, designed the enormous image, 29 metres by 18, is to give the illusion the iconic building was bowing inwards, almost as if it was breathing in.

It follows the lines of the windows, before curving away in to a bowl.

Tim said: "I am naturally delighted to have won and feel very lucky to have the opportunity to see a piece of my work on such a scale."

The 2008 Diesel Wall competition, which he won, offers up-and-coming artists and designers the chance to have their work displayed on a large wall in the city centre of Manchester, New York, Barcelona or Zurich.
