Appeal is launched after a double attack on takeaway
A TAKEAWAY owner has been left reeling after vandals targeted his Whaley Bridge shop for the second time in a week.
Rocks were used to smash the glass frontage of Kebablicious, on Market Street, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
An identical attack on the premises occurred the previous Wednesday, although police do not suspect the incidents are racially motivated.
The damage is expected to cost owner Hasan Deveci thousands of pounds. He said: "It just looked like a bomb had exploded."
Police are hunting two people in connection with the latest incident. Both were seen coming from the direction of Canal Street at around 1.30am, wearing dark clothing and with hooded tops shielding their faces. They ran off in the direction of the reservoir.
A search of the immediate area by police, using sniffer dogs, was unable to trace the offenders.
Concerns over the quality of footage from a nearby CCTV camera, highlighted by Mr Deveci, have since been dismissed. A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Constabulary added: "There was CCTV which wasn't that great, but on the copy we have seen you can clearly make out what is happening."
High Peak Borough Council, who operate the cameras, said its system was state-of-the-art.
