Former playing fields off Brown Edge Road in Buxton have been earmarked for a new residential development for the elderly.
Housing 21 has submitted plans to High Peak Borough Council for a development of 64 self-contained extra care apartments on the one hectare greenfield site, owned by Derbyshire County Council.
The development would contain communal areas including a restaurant, shop and salon, over 50 parking spaces, and provide employment for nearly 30 people.
Planning documents highlight the purpose of the scheme as providing “safe and secure self-contained accommodation for adults and older people”.
Included in the development would be a specialist dementia care unit operated by the county council.
The plans are due to go before the High Peak’s planning committee in February.
