All aboard for a miniature rail exhibition
New Mills Railway modellers exhibition, Andrew Williams with his layout called Lockford Yard
Model railway enthusiasts flocked to the High Peaks to see an exhibition of minitaure locomotives.
The 39th New Mills and District Railway Modellers exhibition was held at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School at the weekend.
There were 16 model railway layouts on display throughout the school, as well as model aircraft and boats.
Steve Wood, secretary for the railway modellers group, said: “It’s always a popular event, a lot of people to seem to like it and come back to it year after year, sometimes from great distances.”
The group gave it’s thanks to Buxton Advertiser readers who donated model railway items to be sold to raise money for Blythe House Hospice, in Chapel-en-le-Frith. This year they have been able to raise £3,600 for the charity by selling items at the exhibition alone.
Proceeds from the event will be shared between worthy causes, which will be decided by members of the club at its annual general meeting.
