A reward of up to £3,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person who burgled the home of an 85-year-old woman in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

The burglary occured on Sycamore Road between 4.30am and 5am on June 24 when the woman heard a noise and was confronted by the burgler in her hallway.

The man demanded money and forced her back into her bedroom where he was violent towards her, causing injuries to her face and hands.

The offender is described as a white man of stocky build, wearing dark clothing, gloves and with his face covered. He made off with £500 which he told the victim was needed for drugs.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £3,000 for information passed to the charity’s 0800 555 111 number that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.

Kiran Dhanda, Regional Manager for Crimestoppers in Derbyshire, said: “Besides the loss of cash, this burglary was immensely distressing for the victim. It has left her feeling absolutely terrified in her own home. We urge anyone with information to contact us anonymously, safe in the knowledge that their identity will not be revealed.”
