Local author’s MUFC book proves a hit

There wasn’t too much to write home about last season for those of a Manchester United persuasion.

However, despite a hugely forgettable campaign on the pitch, one local author has penned a book about the club’s European escapades of the past.

Andrew Kirby, from New Mills, has seen his latest release ‘The Pride of All Europe’ soar to the top of Amazon’s European Football section.

The book is the second in a trilogy of United books that the 36-year-old season ticket holder has been commissioned to write.

He said: “Writing the book was a labour of love really. It was incredibly enjoyable.

“I think the book will appeal to all ages. It covers a 50 to 60-year period and I’ve tried to focus on ten specific matches that United have been involved in.

“It was really interesting talking to people who were at the historic matches, as well as reminisce about more recent games.

“It’s a real triumph and tragedy tale about all the seasons United have enjoyed in Europe.

“I think it helps that the World Cup is on at the moment, that’s certainly helped it move to the top end of the charts.”

Andrew’s first United-themed book was ‘Fergie’s Finest’ and focussed on the great players to play under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The third book is set to be centred on Louis Van Gaal, the incoming United manager.

The Pride of All Europe is available to purchase as an e-book at amazon.co.uk.
