High Peak Nightstop has been given £500 from Buxton and District Lions to support their work.

The charity, through a network of CRB checked volunteers, provides emergency accommodation to young people in the High Peak area.

Buxton and District Lions fully support the excellent work carried out in the local community to provide emergency accommodation for young people in need.

Nightstop also runs a Food Bank to assist young people and families in our community who are struggling to source food themselves.

Buxton and District Lions’ fund raising activities help them to support community groups like Nightstop.

Their next event is to welcome Father Christmas at the Grotto in the Spring Gardens Shopping Centre.

His helpers, the fairies and Buxy the Reindeer are all looking forward to seeing you. Father Christmas is at the Spring Gardens Centre on Saturday December 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 10am to 4pm

The Lions also support “Reverse Santa” where shoppers can take along gifts or toys suitable for children and teenagers and leave them in a sledge next to the Grotto.

These are then distributed to those whose unfortunate circumstances mean they don’t receive any presents at Christmas time.

The Lions welcome new members. To find out more call membership officer Tony Huxford on 01298 24796.
