PRIMARY and Secondary school pupils from across the High Peak took part in a spectacular showcase of dance at Buxton Opera House this week.

The fourth annual Jump Dance Festival, organised by Buxton Community School and Buxton Opera House, saw pupils from a number of local schools take to the stage to perform dance pieces choreographed by professional dance artist Elizabeth Foster as well as Zoe Hanson, dance teacher at Buxton Community School and some of her dance leaders.

Primary school pupils performed their dances on Monday, with more schools than ever taking part. And on Tuesday, it was the turn of key stage four and five secondary school pupils for the secondary dance festival.

Zoe, who organised the festival alongside Sian Dudley, Learning and Participation Officer at Buxton Opera House, said: “It all went really well and we had a record number of primary schools taking part this year.

“We had an Olympic theme and there were a lot of really good ideas.”
