SECURITY arrangements are to be reviewed at the empty council offices in Chinley after a quantity of lead was stolen.
It is believed thieves struck at the High Peak Borough Council-owned site, on Hayfield Road, in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police are investigating the theft, which saw a quantity of lead flashing stolen from the roof of the main building.
A council spokesman said: “The site is patrolled regularly by a security firm in line with the council’s requirements.
“Nevertheless, we will now be reviewing arrangements.”
Roof repairs will be carried out as a matter of urgency.
It hasn’t yet been possible to put a value of the lead stolen.
Anyone with information about the theft should contact police on their non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
