BUXTON Mountain Rescue Team were called to help an injured walker at Chrome Hill near Glutton Bridge over the weekend.

Twenty six members of the team were called out on Sunday afternoon and found the walker on the North West face of Chrome Hill. The North West Air Ambulance arrived and aircraft paramedics treated the 67-year-old woman on site for a suspected fractured ankle, which included splinting and pain relief.

Due to the nature of the terrain the helicopter couldn’t land at the casualty site, the nearest point the pilot could put down was some 200 metres below so the woman was placed onto a specialist stretcher and carried downhill to the waiting aircraft. She was loaded into the aircraft and flown to the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary for further treatment.

The woman’s two walking companions were escorted down to the roadside and taken to their transport in Longnor.
