Is county on right track on vehicles?

Residents are being invited to have their say about how Derbyshire County Council plans to manage vehicle use in the countryside over the next five years.

The council has updated its policy on managing roads which have vehicular rights and is asking for comments.

It covers:

l investment in off-road vehicular routes;

l work with communities and volunteers to monitor the condition of routes;

lpublication and signage of suitable off road vehicular routes and

l use of Traffic Regulation Orders.

Councillor Simon Spencer, DCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “This policy aims to balance the interests and rights of all user groups and local communities.”

To comment on the policy visit or pick up a questionnaire from county council libraries.

The closing date for comments is March 14, 2012.
