Inquest opens into death of 21-year-old at Blackwell campsite

An inquest into the death of a young student who was found dead in a tent at a Blackwell campsite has been opened and adjourned.

Chesterfield coroners’ court heard how the body of 21-year-old Amy Bannister was discovered on Sunday, October 20 – three days after she had been reported missing to Derbyshire Police.

Speaking at the opening on Wednesday, PC Katie Gascoigne said Amy, a student at the University of Derby but originally of Chaytor Drive, Nuneaton, had told friends she was going camping as she was feeling low.

Assistant coroner, James Newman adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
