Mountain rescue team members from Glossop, Oldham and Holme Valley went to the aid of the climber, who was aged in his mid-40s and from the Wakefield area.

Peter Jozefczyk, from Glossop Mountain Rescue, said: “The man had fallen around 12 to 15 metres, sustaining multiple injuries to his left side.

“He was treated on scene by the team before being winched aboard an RAF Seaking helicopter and flown to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.”
