A WALK that will raise money for a variety of charities is to be held in memory of a New Mills man.
The Glynnday Walk is to be held in New Mills on Sunday, February 20, in memory of Glynn Jennings who passed away in September after a long illness.
As well as his role as a town councillor Glynn helped run several community groups and events and campaigned for improvements to the Sett Valley Trail.
His widow Helen said: “This was Glynn’s idea to raise money for local charities.”
Now it will be the couple’s children, Mhairi, eight, and William, six, who will be taking part in the challenge instead.
They will be walking alongside approximately 50 or so people who will be taking part in the event to raise funds for the charity of their choice.
Helen said: “Our chosen charity is the local Macmillan nurses and so money will be used locally. People can choose their own charity.”
The walk will start and finish near to the Sett Valley Medical Centre and the Swimming Baths.
There will be two routes available along the Sett Valley Trail.
The first will be from New Mills to Birch Vale and back again or from New Mills to Hayfield and back again. The walk will start at 1pm.
There will be light refreshments available afterwards for anyone participating in the event.
If anyone would like more information about the event they can contact Helen on 01663 749380 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
