POLICE in Whaley Bridge are warning motorists that they are putting safety at risk by ignoring no right turn signs onto the A6, Buxton Road.
Residents have raised concerns about the issue at the junction of the B6062, which runs from Buxworth and Chinley and joins the A6 near to the railway bridge.
PCSO Tracy Jones of the Whaley Bridge and Furness Vale Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Making a right turn from the B6062 onto the A6 is very dangerous because of the sharp angle of the junction.
“There is reduced visibility for both drivers making the turn and also those travelling along the A6 towards Whaley Bridge.
“Road markings and signs are in place to warn drivers and are there for a reason. Drivers that ignore them are breaking the law and putting their own and the safety of others at risk.
“We will be doing everything we can to educate people who continue to ignore the signs.”
Police can issue motorists found to be breaching the signs with a £30 Fixed Penalty Notice.
