A NEW sign for Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Blythe House Hospice has been refused by councillors.
The hospice had applied for a replacement sign in a v-shaped form on the grass verge at the junction of Eccles Fold. However, members of High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee refused the application on Monday because they felt its size, design and colour, in the location proposed, would be detrimental to the visual amenity and character of the area.
Cllr Lance Dowson said: “I’m sorry but I don’t think the colour, design and positions fit. I think the sign already there does the job so I don’t feel I can support it.”
Councillors did, however, express their support for the hospice.
