A magistrate, she is currently chairman of the High Peak Magistrates’ Bench.

Cllr Batterbee said she was delighted to receive the honour and added: “I don’t know where the last 25 years have gone.”

Members of the parish council voted to bestow the honour on Cllr Batterbee at their January meeting after hearing how, in the last 100 years, only five other members of the parish council have reached 25 years of service.

Cllr Batterbee was congratulated by her fellow councillors.

The formal presentation will be made by the High Sheriff Derek Mapp at a dinner in March.
