It’s quids-in for local history buffs following the announcement that a hoard of Late Iron Age coins will be exhibited in Buxton.
The coins – which were found in Reynard’s Kitchen Cave, Dovedale – will go on display at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery from Saturday, October 25.
The revelation of the discovery on BBC’s Countryfile helped raise excitement about the arrival of the hoard at the museum.
Museums Manager Ros Westwood said: “This spectacular hoard is an exciting addition to the museum’s collections.
“Twenty-three of the coins were probably owned by one person in around 50AD. This would have been a substantial amount of money. The big question is, ‘why leave it in Reynard’s Kitchen Cave?’”
