Santa Claus gave his reindeers a rest and let the train take the strain during a visit to Buxton last weekend.
And his holiday helpers made sure that the 300 visitors who arrived at the town’s railway station on Northern Rail’s two special Santa Trains enjoyed the festive fun.
The trains travelled from Manchester Piccadilly on Saturday morning and afternoon picking up fun-seekers along the way.
Each train had entertainment on board, and all children received a free goody bag from Santa and the Christmas Elves.
Upon arrival at Buxton, the passengers were treated to mince pies and mulled wine before heading into town to go shopping or visit the local attractions.
David Carlisle, chairman of the Friends of Buxton Station, who helped organise the event, said: “A little piece of Christmas joy has already come to Buxton this year.
“You only have to see the children’s faces to appreciate that – Santa Claus is magic!”
The Santa Train is an annual event arranged jointly by Northern Rail and the various station friends community groups located along the Manchester to Buxton railway line.
Those involved include Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Furness Vale, Whaley Bridge and Disley.
