TWO talented young Buxton musicians are to compete in the national chamber music finals being held at Birmingham Symphony Hall, today (Thursday).

Friends Emily Beswick (viola) and Megan Shires (violin), are both Year 10 students of Lady Manners School.

Following their commended performance at the regional rounds, the girls will be playing three duet pieces to a panel of professional musicians.

Their music teacher is Jason Curteis and the girls attend the Peak District Music Centres (PDMC), where they play as part of the senior orchestra.

Emily and Megan also both perform as part of the Strings section with Derbyshire county orchestra.
