A CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH man has been elected as an Honorary Life Member of one of Buxton’s oldest societies.

Nigel Bradbury, who is also a Chapel Parish Councillor, was honoured for his valuable service during his membership, at the Annual Meeting of the Buxton History Society (previously the Buxton Archaeological Local and Natural History Society).

Nigel was an officer of the Society for almost 30 years, serving as Honorary Auditor, with terms as Chairman, as Joint Honorary Secretary and also undertaking other duties. This year The Society celebrates its 90th anniversary, having been formed in 1922.

Nigel said that he greatly appreciated the honour and had enjoyed taking part in The Society’s activities over his 35 years of membership. The Society welcomes new members at its meetings, held on the third Thursday of each month at the Old Hall Hotel, Buxton, at 7.30pm.
