THOUSANDS of visitors from across Europe and beyond descended on Buxton last week for the Hillhead exhibition.
Held at the Hillhead quarry in Harpur Hill, the event attracted over 17,000 people who experienced more live demonstrations and new plant and equipment than ever before from over 450 exhibitors.
Visitor numbers were up ten per cent from the last time the event, which showcases all the latest plant, equipment and materials from leading companies such as JCB, Caterpillar and Tarmac, took place in Buxton.
And the bi-annual show provides a massive boost to the local economy as many of those exhibiting and visiting stay in local accommodation.
Event Director Jack Berridge said: “We are delighted with how well the event has gone and look forward to returning to Buxton in June 2014 where we have always been made to feel welcome.
“In terms of the impact of the event on the local economy, while this is difficult to quantify precisely, it is clear that the event fills up all of the local hotels and guest houses, and of course restaurants, pubs, taxis and shops all benefit from the influx of so many exhibitors and visitors attracted to the show.”
