Hill walker rescued in Hope Valley

A HILL walker was rescued after fracturing his ankle while out walking in the Hope Valley.

The 59-year-old man had slipped while walking the ridge between Win Hill and Hope Cross last Friday.

His walking companion raised the alarm at a nearby farm, as neither walker was carrying a mobile phone.

Members of Edale and Buxton mountain rescue teams treated the man and, with the air ambulance unavailable due to low cloud and hill mist, stretchered him to an awaiting ambulance.
