A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator has been donated to Buxton Football Club by medical charity Westfield Health.

The acquisition comes in the wake of the cardiac arrest suffered by Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice Muamba, and more locally the recent death of teenage footballer Ben Obiora.

Buxton FC Director Dave Hopkins said: “The welfare of our players, staff and supporters is of paramount importance to us and now, if any extreme circumstances arise, we are in an even better position to deal with them.”

Club officials are now in process of securing the accompanying oxygen equipment, and the intention is to have the life-saving equipment present at first-team and under-19s fixtures and training sessions.
