If you would like to make a New Year’s resolution that can really make a difference why not consider becoming a Whaley Chapel Community First Responder.

The volunteers provide vital life- saving care in their local community and would like to recruit new members in Dove Holes, Chapel, Chinley and Buxworth.

Jane Butler, Group Co-ordinator, said: “The fact we are able to get to patients as quickly as we do, because we are close by, can make the difference between life and death in some cases.”

CFRs are dispatched at the same time as an ambulance to respond to calls from people who are in cardiac arrest, are unconscious or who have severe breathing difficulties.

They can give emergency treatment before the ambulance arrives.

Training is provided by East Midlands Ambulance Service.
