NEW proposals to create a hub for inpatient care in Buxton are to go before two public meetings being held in the town next week.
Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (DCHS) are currently looking at options for creating a hub for inpatient care in the town, rather than having it across two sites at both the Cavendish Hospital, which is on Manchester Road, and at Buxton Hospital, which is on London Road.
Two meetings are to be held next Friday to ask local people for their views on the plans before any firm proposals are developed by the trust.
A spokesperson for DCHS said: “The aim of the meetings is to share some ideas, test the water, and see what local people think before making any firm proposals.
“We’re looking solely at how we organise inpatient care locally for Buxton patients - namely patients requiring admission to a hospital bed.
“The rationale behind this is that a single hub for inpatient care in the town would enable us to pool resources, expertise and care in the interests of high quality patient care.”
The meetings are being held at Buxton Methodist Church on the Market Place on October 5 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
The spokesperson added: “We hope that this meeting will include members of the voluntary sector and other interested local groups as well as individuals who can help to represent the local community.”
