A BUXTON hospital ward is to be closed from February 9 to March 8 so essential lift maintenance work can take place.
The patients of Spencer Ward at Cavendish Hospital will be transferred to Bakewell’s Newholme Hospital to allow the necessary repairs to be undertaken.
Community health bosses aim to make the transfer as smooth as possible, with the majority of the same team currently based at Cavendish moving over with patients to ensure high standards of care are maintained while they stay at Newholme.
Staff will accompany patients as they are transferred by Derbyshire Community Health Services’ patient transport service.
Kate O’Brien, Matron for Older People’s Mental Health Services for DCHS, said: “We would like to reassure patients and their families that they will continue to receive the same excellent quality of care during the ward temporary closure.
“Nurses currently working on the Spencer Ward will be moving over to Newholme to ensure minimal disruption.
“We’d like to ask patients and their families to bear with us while we undertake these necessary repairs, which will improve vital access to the ward,” added Mrs O’Brien.
Patients and/or carers requiring further information should contact Mrs O’Brien on 01246 515873 or Mrs Jenny Dalibey, Spencer Ward Manager, on 01298 212845.
