STAFF from Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have taken part in the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, Operation Christmas Child.
People were asked to donate shoeboxes containing presents which are then given to children in need throughout Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
Alison Baker, Executive Business Assistant, has led the appeal and has been collecting gift filled shoeboxes since October, to send to disadvantaged children via the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse. So far staff have donated 25 shoeboxes for boys and girls aged from two-14 years, filled with gifts including toys, educational materials and essential toiletries.
Alison said: “This is the third year Trust staff have taken part in this worthy project. I’m particularly grateful as we all feel the pinch at Christmastime; it really highlights how much people care.”
