Doctors and nurses in run for life

Swapping their hospital scrubs and suits for running gear are staff at East Cheshire NHS Trust.

A team of ten doctors, nurses and support staff will take part in the BUPA 10k Manchester run, on May 20, in a bid to raise £1,500 for the Maternity Department at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

The funds are to buy sonic aids used to monitor a baby’s heartbeat during pregnancy.

Dr Surendran Chandrasekaren, Consultant Paediatrician at the Trust, said: “I had the time of my life when I ran for the first time last year.

“The hope and support shown to me on the day was amazing. It was a great day, running with great people for a great cause – our local hospital and my place of work. We hope you can support the hospital running team in achieving our £1,500 fundraising target.”
