DERBYSHIRE County Council’s Eat Well road show, aimed at older people who are underweight, will be in Buxton on Tuesday, August 14.
The Eat Well campaign is aimed at older people who are unintentionally losing weight – as well as their family and carers.
Healthy eating messages like five-a-day and low cholesterol don’t apply to this group and they should choose full fat food and snack on high-calorie treats to gain weight.
The campaign aims to help people spot the symptoms in elderly friends, relatives and other older people they come into contact with.
Malnutrition and dehydration cause serious health problems − including infections like colds and flu, depression and falls. It’s also a common cause of admission to hospitals and care homes and costs the taxpayer billions of pounds a year.
The road show will be at Buxton’s Sainsbury’s between 9.30am and 3pm.
