A pair of young guitar players are set to dazzle an audience with their musical abilities at a concert this weekend.

Emma Smith and Rebecca Parnell will perform at the United Reformed Church, in Mellor Road, New Mills, on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Emma and Rebecca met as students of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in September 2011.

After discovering a shared love of chamber music, The Mosaic Guitar Duo was formed in the summer of 2012 with the goal of performing both much-loved and lesser known works for guitar duo.

Emma is currently undertaking a Master’s degree at the RNCM under the tutelage of Craig Ogden. She has performed at many venues in Scotland including the National Galleries, the Usher Hall, the Queen’s Hall, St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh Society of Musicians and Edinburgh Castle.

Rebecca began playing the guitar at the age of eight, receiving tuition from her father. At the age of 13 she was awarded a scholarship to study on the specialist music programme at Perth Modern School in Western Australia.

Rebecca is currently in her final year of undergraduate study at the RNCM.

As a duo, Emma and Rebecca have received tuition from performers including Julian Byzantine, the Aquarelle Guitar Quartet and Craig Ogden.

Tickets are £8 and are available from Priscilla’s Cards, Market Street, New Mills, or on the door. For further information call 0161 449 5370.
