New Mills Juniors Football Club has raised over £1,000 for a new defibrillator, after staging a charity golf day.

Chafes Solicitors was the principal sponsor of the event which saw junior footballers swap goalposts for golf clubs at New Mills Golf Club last month.

Local businesses also joined in, with an adult competition taking place in the afternoon.

The football club raised a total amount of £1,100 meaning it can purchase a third defibrillator, making one available at all its training and match playing centres in New Mills.

Jon Roberts, managing partner of Chafes Solicitors, said: “We were pleased to support the day and help New Mills JFC raise funds for a vital piece of equipment.

“Defibrillators are extremely important and we didn’t hesitate to lend our support for such a worthwhile cause.

“Like Chafes, the football club has been a part of the New Mills community for many years and plays a vital role in introducing children to sport.

Giles Wyatt, vice-chairman at New Mills JFC, said: “We are very grateful to Chafes Solicitors for supporting the golf day.”
