Plans to demolish an iconic Glossop mill which has crumbled into disrepair have been approved.
High Peak Borough Council’s planning committee have today (Monday) approved plans to demolish Woods Mill, in Mill Street.
The proposal split opinion among councillors, with many feeling that the mill should be restored.
Coun Godfrey Claff said: “This is not just any old building, it’s almost 200-years-old, it’s one of the few remaining remnants of Glossop’s industrial heritage.”
But developer Michael Ryan said: “I believe that we have done everything possible to save the mill building.”
