An evening of glamour awaits those who attend a masquerade ball in the capital of the Peak.

The ball is being held in Chapel–en–le–Frith Memorial Park on Saturday, August 3, with proceeds going towards new children’s play equipment. Friends of Chapel Memorial Park were compelled to start raising the £125,000 needed for a new play area after seeing the poor state of the park’s current facilities.

One of the organisers, Nicola Stevens, said: “The masquerade ball is not just a night out, it goes towards your children for the next 25 to 30 years.”

The glitzy evening starts with a glass of complimentary sparkling wine, followed by a luxury hot and cold buffet.

There will be live music courtesy of The Carbs and Stone 3 and a DJ.

Tickets cost £39.50 and enter you into a free prize draw in which you could win the chance to arrive at the ball in style in Avril’s wedding car, a 1930s Rolls Royce.

Tickets are available until July 8 from Fosters Flowers, Chapel Parish Council and First Impressions.

The following day, August 4, there will be a family fun day in the park. Between 11am and 3pm there will be a barbecue and attractions including vintage games and Zumba.
