Girl flown to hospital

A girl who was taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition had to be rescued after being taken ill.

Mountain Rescue teams from Buxton and Edale were called on Sunday afternoon, to help the 15-year-old from Hale, Warrington who was suffering from a cardiac condition.

Her fellow team members had managed the situation well in that they had erected a tent providing shelter and gave accurate location information. They were at the junction of the Chapel Gate Track and Whitemoor Clough footpath.

The youngster was treated on site by both EMAS and Air Ambulance paramedics before being flown by the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital for further checks and treatment.
