TAKING on an Olympic theme will be the Chinley Village Games, set to be held next week.

There will be a decathlon event, with fun activities to test your skills of balance, co-ordination and speed, together with traditional races, a team obstacle fun run, tug of war, orienteering, boules, cricket, golf and a rock climbing tower.

The Games, taking place on Saturday May 19 from 10am to 3pm, at Chinley Community Centre, is set to be a great day out for all the family, and it’s free.

“We are hoping that even more people will come and join in this year,” said Hayley Lever, one of the organisers.

“There is a BBQ and refreshments. The day is closed with a prize giving, and a mass game of rounders.”

The Paper Mill Inn, formerly the Oddfellows in Whitehough, is sponsoring the event, and hosting an after-games event from 4pm.

The event has been kindly supported by High Peak Borough Councillor Audrey Bramah through the Councillors Initiative Fund, which will be used to buy equipment and prizes.
