COLOURFUL floral arrangements have been enjoyed by visitors to St George’s Church in New Mills over the weekend.

The Water of Life was the theme for the stunning floral displays created by various groups with each taking their inspiration from different stories from the Bible involving water.

As well as groups of parishioners who worked on creating the individual arrangements there were also designs put together by children at St George’s Primary School and New Mills School.

Additional floral displays were created by the New Mills Parks Department.

The church’s flower festival was part of the increasingly popular New Mills Festival which includes talks and walks, concerts, gigs, exhibitions and an impressive lantern procession.

This Saturday, September 22, will see a Comedy Night With Tony Vino held at St George’s Parish Hall, Church Lane. The evening starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets costing £6, £4 concessions are available from 01663 746130.

New Mills Festival runs until September 30. For more information about the various events taking place go to www.newmillsfestival.com.
