A love story which began during a classic screen romance led to a diamond wedding anniversary this week.
Phyl and Bob Hall’s friends secretly arranged for them to sit next to each other at a showing of ‘Gone With The Wind’. They fell in love – and now have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Phyl, who claims that the secret of a good marriage is tolerance and a good sense of humour, is a keen musician and instrumental secretary for the Buxton Music Festival, while sports fan Bob enjoyed playing cricket, football and in later years, bowls.
They married in Dove Holes on August 9, 1952 and will celebrate the occasion with their four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
