High Peak residents are being urged to take extra care as firefighters stage two further strikes in a row over pensions.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will walk out between 6.30pm on Tuesday December 31 and 12.30am on Wednesday January 1, and then again between 6.30am and 8.30am on Friday January 3.
Despite months of negotiation, the union has failed to reach an agreement with the government over changes to firefighter pensions which they say are “unworkable.”
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service will continue to provide an emergency response during the strike periods but at a reduced level.
Area Manager Gavin Tomlinson said: “I would urge all business owners and managers to ensure the safety of their staff and customers is of paramount importance during the industrial action and do everything in their power on the run-up to this period, to mitigate the risk of any incidents from occurring.”
