PRETTY floral displays depicting books ranging from the Bible to Harry Potter went on show last week.

St Paul’s Church at Quarnford, in the village of Flash, held its annual four-day flower festival on the theme of ‘books’.

Around 15 displays, produced by local residents, included a centrepiece on the story of creation from the Book of Genesis, along with others on Catherine Cookson, Lord of the Rings, Little Red Riding Hood, Pride and Prejudice and Treasure Island.

“The displays were fantastic,” explained churchwarden Janet McNicol. “We welcomed a steady flow of visitors through the doors.”

ALL’S WELL: left - Craig Balderstone helps put up the Flash well dressing. His wife Wanda designed the well, and the whole village had a hand in its creation. The blessing of the well took place on Saturday. NBUA110645A.
